Uniforms


 
Households that are middle class or above tend to have maids at home. These maids are also Colombians (unlike the foreign labour in HK) who come to your house as early as 7am in the morning for housework. The difference is that Colombia seems to be highly regulated and the law stipulates that every employer needs to buy 2 uniforms (including shoes!?) a year for the maid! So that’s why you get these random shops that sell uniforms scattering in affluent neighbourhoods, often residential, next to some antique shop or up-scale restaurant, just like a 7-11!
